Halloween Dog Show Oradea 2026: Romanian Mission with an Unexpected Champion Ending

The last weekend of October belonged to the international dog show in Oradea, Romania, where our kennel Dukes of the South headed with a clear goal. The traditional Halloween Dog Show attracted visitors with its autumn atmosphere and prestigious CACIB titles. We sent our two Beagles into the show ring – the experienced Falco and the promising young Jeff. Although plans at dog shows sometimes take a slightly different turn, we certainly did not return home empty-handed.

Saturday, October 24: First Battles in the Show Ring

Saturday morning kicked off the first show day, and the competition in the rings left no doubt that an international title would not come easy. The main task of the day was to support Falco in the working class, while Jeff gathered valuable experience among the juniors.

Both boys showed in top form. Falco secured the CAC title, and Jeff showed he has a great future ahead of him by claiming the CAJC award and the BOJ (Best Junior) title in the junior competition.

Sunday, October 25: The Fight for the International Title and Becoming a Champion

The second show day brought even more excitement. Falco entered the working class again with full determination and managed to repeat Saturday's success – winning another CAC and claiming resCACIB in the final runoff. Although it wasn't quite enough for the coveted full CACIB this time, this result fulfilled the requirements and earned him the prestigious Romanian Champion title.

Young Jeff shone once again on Sunday. In the junior class, he claimed another CAJC, an international JCACIB, and earned the BOJ title for the second time that weekend.

Results

Our Beagles brought home these wonderful awards from the two-day event in Oradea:

  • Falco (working class): 2× CAC, resCACIB – new Romanian Champion
  • Jeff (junior class): 2× CAJC, JCACIB, 2× BOJ

Atmosphere and the Course of the Weekend

The initial plan for our Romanian trip was quite straightforward: we went primarily for Falco, whom we wanted to help secure a CACIB title. However, dog shows are unpredictable, and this time the very top international step narrowly eluded us in the form of a reserve title. But the disappointment did not last long – the joy of finishing the adult Romanian championship more than made up for it, and Jeff's confident junior results were a fantastic bonus.

Overall, our pleasant impression of the event and the autumn atmosphere of the Oradea showground was slightly complicated by the organizational side of processing diplomas. The championship could only be paid for in cash on site. The lack of card payment options nowadays caught us a bit off guard and added unnecessary stress while scrambling to find the required cash on the spot.

Conclusion

Despite the minor organizational hiccups and the fact that our original goal was only partially fulfilled, we evaluate the trip to Romania very positively. We bring home a new national champion and confirmation that Jeff is on track for great results.

A big thank you for this weekend and fair judging goes to Petru Muntean and Alin Dumitrescu. We look forward to the upcoming show challenges ahead of us.
