Double Show Weekend: From the Sunny Fortress in Komárom to Rainy České Budějovice

We have wrapped up a weekend packed with travel, contrasts, and fantastic show moments. On October 9 and 10, 2026, our kennel Dukes of the South set off on a true international journey. We had two international dog shows (CACIB) lined up across two different countries in just two days. Packing up the dogs along with good spirits and hitting the Komárom – České Budějovice route was quite a challenge, but our Beagles, Falco and young Jeff, proved that traveling suits them well and gave their absolute best in the rings.

The Atmosphere and Weekend Recap

Friday, October 9, 2026: Komárom in a Historic Setting

Friday's schedule kicked off in Komárom, Hungary. Set against the backdrop of the local historic fortress, the show always holds a unique charm, and this time was no exception. The weather was on our side—we were greeted by a beautiful, sunny autumn day, even if a slightly brisk wind blew now and then. Both we and the dogs enjoyed walking along the historic fortress walls. As soon as the judging began, however, the romance was set aside as we focused on the presentation. Jeff entered the junior class with immense enthusiasm, and Falco showed off in style in the champion class.

Once the ring judging concluded, a swift transfer awaited us. The route between Hungary and South Bohemia was logistically a bit more demanding, but with plenty of buffer time, we managed everything safely.

Saturday, October 10, 2026: Rainy České Budějovice

On Saturday morning, a completely different scene greeted us at the exhibition grounds in České Budějovice. The morning was overcast, and it wasn't long before heavy rain started, keeping us company for most of the day. But the miserable weather didn't dampen the Beagles' spirits. This time, we entered Falco into the working class, where he proved his versatility and top condition. Jeff stepped into the junior class once again and, despite the soggy ground, ran with his characteristic effortless grace.

Results

Our team certainly held its ground amid tough international competition, bringing home wonderful titles:

Friday, October 9, 2026 – Komárom (CACIB):

  • Jeff (Junior Class): Excellent 1, CAJC, J-CACIB, BOJ
  • Falco (Champion Class): Excellent 2, r.CAC

Saturday, October 10, 2026 – České Budějovice (CACIB):

  • Jeff (Junior Class): Excellent 1, CAJC, J-CACIB, BOJ
  • Falco (Working Class): Excellent 1, CAC, r.CACIB

Young Jeff thus demonstrated absolute and incredible consistency, securing the complete set of junior titles on both days, including Best of Junior (BOJ), and finishing his Hungarian Junior Champion title in Komárom. Falco proved his qualities in both the champion and working classes, bringing home the CAC and r.CACIB awards.

In Conclusion

A demanding October marathon is behind us. It was a weekend filled with motorway miles, sunshine alternating with heavy rain, but most importantly, wonderful experiences with our dogs.

Our heartfelt thanks for judging and for the kind approach in the rings go to the judges: Mr. Tesics Gyorgy in Komárom and Mrs. Zdeňka Jílková in České Budějovice. Thank you for appreciating the qualities of our Beagles, and we look forward to the next show challenges!
