The European Parliament and the Council of the EU have approved the first comprehensive pan-European regulation on the welfare of dogs and cats and their traceability – Regulation (EU) 2026/1818. Parliament passed it in April 2026, member states in the Council gave their final confirmation on 22 May 2026 (ČT24), and it was signed on 17 June 2026.
