Jeff Shined at Duodanube Bratislava 2026
On Sunday, August 23, 2026, we headed to the Duodanube Bratislava international dog show with our young Beagle Jeff. Due to our busy schedule, it was a quick one-day round trip, which turned out to be an exceptionally successful day for our breeding kennel Dukes of the South. Jeff not only took home the titles CAJC, CACIB-J, and BOJ from the Bratislava ring, but in the final competitions he also fought his way to JBIG3 and earned a prestigious Crufts qualification.
The journey to Slovakia went smoothly, and the pleasant August weather played in our favor throughout the entire day. On the practical side of the show, parking on Haanova Street was trouble-free, from where it was only about a ten-minute walk to the entrance gate of the venue. We managed to pass veterinary inspection in peace and prepare for entering the junior ring.
Judging in our class was in the hands of Mr. Tibor Havelka. He demonstrated a very strict yet fair and professional approach with an emphasis on anatomy and movement mechanics, fully in line with the Beagle breed standard (FCI Standard No. 161). In strong junior class competition, Jeff presented himself with a calm, focused presence and great movement. The judge appreciated his qualities with an Excellent 1 grading and awarded him the junior championship candidacy.
By winning the Best of Junior (BOJ) title, Jeff advanced to the afternoon finals. In the final ring for FCI Group VI juniors, he maintained his focus and energy, achieving a fantastic third place (JBIG3) among the other breeds. The icing on the cake was the earned nomination for the prestigious British dog show Crufts.
We would like to thank the judge for the detailed and objective evaluation, and the organizers for the smooth running of the entire show. For Jeff and our kennel, these results represent a wonderful reward for our work so far and great motivation for future show competitions.
